“DHL Global Forwarding Records Increasing Demand for Sustainable Transport Solutions”

『DHL Global Forwarding、持続可能な輸送ソリューションに対する需要の増加を記録』

- According to ESG News, “DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Group’s air and ocean freight specialist, is recording an increased demand in sustainable transport solutions based on the usage of sustainable fuels such as Sustainable Aviation Fuels. Whether in a tender process or in discussion with existing customers, a growing number of shippers are not only requesting a greater Greenhouse Gas Emissions transparency, but are also exploring sustainable solutions, even if they come at an additional cost.”
- Further, “DHL offers its customers to decarbonize their transport through the GoGreen Plus service. Hereby carriers consume sustainable biofuels on behalf of DHL. The resulting emission reductions are passed on to DHL and will then be allocated to the shippers.”
- The adoption of sustainable transport solutions is essential to reducing the environmental impact of transportation and achieving climate goals. We will be monitoring how Logistics Providers in Japan will offer sustainable solutions.
“Biden-Harris Administration Announces $30 Million to Build Up Domestic Supply Chain”

『米バイデン-ハリス政権、国内サプライチェーン強化に3000万ドルを拠出すると発表』

- According to ESG News, “In support of President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced up to $30 million to help lower the costs of the onshore production of rare earths and other critical minerals and materials from domestic coal-based resources. ”
- Also, “The funding, provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, will help meet the growing demand for critical minerals in the United States, while reducing our reliance on offshore supplies.”
- The announcement is part of President Biden’s “Investing in America” agenda, which aims to rebuild the country’s manufacturing sector and create good-paying jobs.
The announcement has been welcomed by industry groups, who say it will help to create a more sustainable and secure supply of critical minerals for the United States.
ナブテスコ株式会社『CO2地中貯留に対する監視システムを開発する SpotLight 社に出資』
“Nabtesco Corporation Invests SpotLight, a French Company Developing a Monitoring System for Geosequestration of CO2.”

- 同社は、『コーポレート・ベンチャー・ キャピタルとして設立した Nabtesco Technology Ventures L.P.（Managing Partner：練馬 洋）を 通じて、この度、地中貯留した CO2の監視システムを開発する SpotLight 社に出資』と発表。
- SpotLight 社については、『CCS の導入に 不可欠な CO2 地中貯留の監視については、従来、地下貯蔵データの把握に多数のセンサーを分布 することで多大なコストが生じており、コストの抑制が課題となっています。フランス マシ―に 本社を置く SpotLight 社は、独自のデータ分析手法によるシミュレーションを併用することで、 大きな投資を必要とせずに安定的かつ正確なデータを取得することを実現しています。これにより、 生態系を破壊する可能性のあるボーリング調査などフィールドワーク活動を最小限に留めることも 可能』と紹介。
- 同社は、従来の国内の大学との連携に加え、海外大学・研究機関との共同研究やコーポレート・ベンチャーキャピタル（CVC）によるスタートアップとの共創・M&Aへのスタンスは積極的で、SpotLight 社の分析手法とナブテスコが展開するコンポーネント技術やシステム技術とのパッケージ化やシナジー効果に注目したい。
年金積立金管理運用独立行政法人（GPIF）『「2022年度 ESG活動報告」を刊行』
“GPIF Releases ESG Report for FY2022.”

- GPIFは2022年度のESG活動報告について、『同年度のESGに関する取組みの紹介やポートフォリオのESG評価などに加え、「気候関連財務情報開示タスクフォース」(TCFD)の提言を受けた分析において、新たに「ボトムアップアプローチに基づくGHG削減貢献量分析」や「GPIFが投資しているESG債の対象プロジェクトのインパクト計測」などを行いました。また、試行的に「自然関連財務情報開示タスクフォース」（TNFD）の提言に沿った分析も実施しました。』と発表。
- 宮園理事長は『社会において注目が高まっている様々な課題に対しては、常にアンテナを高くして、これからも情報収集などに努めていきます。』と述べている。企業のESGに対する取り組みがますます重要視される中、今後も同法人によるTCFD/TNFDに沿った先進的な分析の開示に注目したい。
株式会社J-オイルミルズ『SAF（持続可能な航空燃料）の実証研究が国立研究開発法人新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構（NEDO）公募事業に採択』

- 同社によると、『SAF（持続可能な航空燃料）の実証研究が、国立研究開発法人新エネルギー・産業技術総合開発機構（NEDO）の2023年度公募事業「バイオジェット燃料生産技術開発事業/実証を通じたサプライチェーンモデルの構築」の助成先として採択された。』
- 『SAFの原料として「食料と競合しない植物」を活用することは、食料問題の解決への貢献が期待できるため、当社の企業理念にもつながります。そのため、当社はこれまで培ってきた食用植物油製造の知見と技術を生かして、昨年2022年より新たな領域への挑戦を開始』とのこと。同社はすでに、23年2月には出光興産株式会社と「サーキュラーエコノミー実現に向けた取り組み」も展開し、重要課題としてとらえている「環境負荷の抑制」を加速させている。
- 食料と競合しない植物を原料に活用し、環境に優しい航空燃料の開発に取り組む姿勢がポジティブ。同社の技術やノウハウを活かし、電力会社や航空会社向けのビジネスが確立できるかに注目したい。
