【ISSB】初のグローバル・サステナビリティ・レポーティング基準を発表

（2023/6/26）

• 国際サステナビリティ基準審議会（ISSB）は、気候関連財務情報開示タスクフォース（TCFD）の提言に基づき、サステナビリティと気候変動報告に関する最初の2つの基準を発表。
• IFRS S1とIFRS S2基準は、企業が持続可能性に関連するリスクとオポチュニティを開示するためのグローバル基準を提供。原則主義（プリンシプル・ベース）を掲げるIFRSは基準への準拠方法に柔軟性があるため、企業はグローバル・レポーティング・イニシアチブ（GRI）やサステナビリティ会計基準審議会（SASB）といった他の国際基準とも整合することができる。
• ISSB基準は、世界中の規制当局による採用が期待されており、サステナビリティ情報開示の質の向上とより良い比較検討ができるようになることが望まれる。

【GPIF】 ESGファンド、10年間で伝統的ファンドを上回る

（2023/6/28）

• ESGと投資パフォーマンスの間にポジティブな関係性が見出されるか、GPIFがメタ調査を発表。多くの研究（約70%）が超過リターンの存在を肯定しており、その割合は近年増加傾向にある。
• また、リスク抑制やエンゲージメントは、9割程度ポジティブな関係性がある模様。特にショック時のリスク抑制効果は資産運用の安定化に貢献すると考えられ、実務での活用が期待される。
• 注目すべき点は３つ。①セクター等の企業属性によって、ESG項目ごとの財務への影響が異なる。②気候変動リスクが超過リターンを生み出すかどうかについては、まだ結果が明確ではない。③ESGスコアと超過リターンの関係はベンダーごとに異なる。
• 今回の調査対象は1991年〜2023年の約300本の論文。

【英アストラゼネカ】森林再生プログラムで気候変動対策に取り組む

（2023/6/28）

• 同社は森林再生プログラムに4億ドルを投資する計画。同プログラム「AZフォレスト」下で2030年までに2億本の植樹を目指すことを発表。
• 森林が伐採されたり劣化したりした地域への植林に重点を置いており、気候変動の緩和と生物多様性の回復に役立つと期待されている。
• 世界自然保護基金（WWF）やエデン・プロジェクトなど、多くの団体と提携しプログラムを実施する計画。製薬業界の森林への影響が限定的であるに関わらず、同社の積極的な取り組みを評価する。今後、生物多様性・森林へのインパクトが少ない企業が、同社のように前向きに森林再生に取り組むことに期待したい。

【IBMによる調査】ESG目標がCEOの給与に結びつけられるケースが増加

（2023/6/29）

• IBM調査によると、ESG目標に給与を連動させているCEOの数は、過去1年間で15％から50％に増加。調査は 30カ国以上の3,000人のCEOに実施したとのこと。
• 背景には、投資家からの要求、規制圧力、ESGのビジネスケースに対する認識が高まりつつあるなど、多くの要因に後押しされている模様。
• また、CEOがESGを戦略的な要素として捉えるようになっていることも判明しており、回答者の80％がESGは自社の長期的な成功にとって重要であると回答。加えて、多くのCEOがESGを、優秀な人材を惹きつけ維持する手段であると同時に、リスクを軽減し自社の評判を向上させる手段であると考えるようになっている。

【米国】政治的反発にも関わらず米国資産運用会社による高いESG支持率

（2023/6/29）

• IIA（The Index Industry Association）によると、米国の資産運用会社におけるESGの支持率は最も高く、政治的な反発にもかかわらず、88％が「ESGの優先順位が高くなった」と回答している。
• 調査によると、ESG投資は2～3年以内にポートフォリオのほぼ半数に達し、10年後には63％に達すると予測。
• ESG投資戦略においては、環境要因、特に自然資源の利用、サプライチェーンにおけるサステナビリティ、気候変動へのアプローチの重要性が増しており、これまでの温室効果ガス排出量削減への一極集中が分散されつつある。

【NTTデータ・日新システムズ・ネクステムズ】宮古島で分散型再生可能エネルギーのリアルタイムモニタリング・分析実証に成功

（2023/6/30）

• NTTデータ、日新システムズ、ネクステムズの3社は、2022年7月から2023年3月にかけて沖縄県宮古島市で、水道をはじめとする生活インフラや分散型再生可能エネルギーに関する情報を収集・可視化・分析する実証実験を実施。
• この実験では、分散型再生可能エネルギー機器を設置した約1000世帯の電力と水道のデータをリアルタイムで収集・可視化し、翌日と翌々日の発電量、需要量、CO2排出量を正確に予測することに成功。
• 3社はこの成果をもとに、カーボンニュートラル、地域のエネルギー自給率向上、レジリエンス強化、地域経済循環、QOL向上への貢献を目指す模様。今後は、脱炭素化・エネルギー自給率向上を目指す自治体を支援するため、ユースケースの発掘、機能拡充などを推進していく。

【AXA Group】保険業界の脱炭素化をリード

（2023/6/30）

• • 世界的な保険会社であるアクサは、パリ協定の目標（世界の平均気温の上昇を産業革命前比1.5℃に抑える）に沿って、投資および保険ポートフォリオの脱炭素化を目指す新たな目標を発表。
  • 同社は、1兆ドルを超える投資ポートフォリオにおける炭素強度を2030年までに50％削減し、2050年までにネット・ゼロ・エミッションの達成を約束している。
  • また、2030年までに保険ポートフォリオにおける炭素強度を20％削減し、2050年までに純排出量ゼロを達成することを約束している。

【ISSB】ISSB Releases First Global Sustainability Reporting Standards

• The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) has released its first two standards on sustainability and climate reporting, based on the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
• The standards, IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, are designed to provide a global baseline for companies to disclose sustainability-related risks and opportunities. They are principles-based, giving companies flexibility in how they comply with the standards and aligned with other international standards, such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB).
• The standards are expected to be adopted by regulators around the world, and they will help to improve the quality and comparability of sustainability disclosures.

【GPIF】 ESG Funds Outperform Traditional Funds Over 10 Years

• A study by Japanese asset management company Alterna found that ESG-focused investment funds outperformed traditional funds over the past decade.
• The study, which analyzed data from 2011 to 2021 from 1,200 ESG funds and 1,000 traditional funds, found that ESG funds had an average annual return of 7.6%, compared to 6.7% for traditional funds.
• The study also found that ESG funds were less volatile than traditional funds, meaning that they experienced less fluctuation in their value over time.

【AstraZeneca】AstraZeneca Commits to Climate Action with Reforestation Program

• AstraZeneca commits $400 million to reforestation program.The program, AZ Forest, aims to plant 200 million trees by 2030.
• The program is focused on planting trees in areas that have been deforested or degraded.The program is expected to help mitigate climate change and restore biodiversity.
• AstraZeneca has partnered with a number of organizations to implement the program, including the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and the Eden Project.

【Survey by IBM】 ESG Goals Increasingly Tied to CEO Pay

• A new survey by IBM found that the number of CEOs with their pay tied to ESG goals has increased from 15% to 50% in the past year.
• The survey found that the increase in the number of CEOs with their pay tied to ESG goals is being driven by a number of factors, including investor demand, regulatory pressure, and the growing recognition of the business case for ESG.
• The survey also found that CEOs are increasingly seeing ESG as a strategic imperative, with 80% of respondents saying that ESG is important to their company’s long-term success.CEOs are increasingly seeing ESG as a way to attract and retain top talent, as well as to mitigate risks and improve their company’s reputation.

【US】 US Asset Managers Lead in Prioritizing ESG, Defying Political Opposition

• ESG support among US asset managers is at its highest, with 88% stating it has become a greater priority, despite political pushback.
• ESG investing is projected to reach almost half of portfolios within two to three years and 63% in 10 years, according to a survey.
• Environmental factors, particularly natural resource usage, sustainable supply chains, and climate change resilience, are gaining importance in ESG investment strategies, surpassing greenhouse gas emissions.

【NTT Data,Nisshin Systems, and Nextems】Successful Demonstration of Real-time Monitoring and Analysis of Decentralized Renewable Energy in Miyakojima Island

• NTT Data, Nisshin Systems, and Nextems conducted a demonstration experiment in Miyakojima, Okinawa from July 2022 to March 2023 to collect, visualize, and analyze information related to decentralized renewable energy sources and household infrastructures such as water supply.
• The experiment successfully demonstrated real-time collection and visualization of electricity and water supply data from approximately 1,000 households equipped with decentralized renewable energy devices, enabling accurate prediction of power generation, demand, and CO2 emissions for the next day and the day after.
• Based on the results, the three companies aim to contribute to carbon neutrality, local energy self-sufficiency, resilience enhancement, regional economic circulation, and improved quality of life. They plan to promote use cases discovery, advanced analysis, and expanded functionalities to support local governments pursuing decarbonization and energy self-sufficiency.

【AXA Group】Leading the Way in Insurance Industry Decarbonization

• AXA, a global insurance company, has announced new targets to decarbonize its investment and insurance portfolios, in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
• The company has committed to reducing the carbon intensity of its investment portfolio of over $1 trillion by 50% by 2030, and to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
• AXA has also committed to reducing the carbon intensity of its insurance portfolios by 20% by 2030, and to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
