- サステナビリティリスク管理室をグループCROの傘下に新設
- それ以外も、「ネットゼロ移行計画」、気候関連リスク管理態勢の強化、取引先の移行リスク対応状況の進展確認などを含む39ページのレポートを開示
三井住友フィナンシャルグループSMBC（SMBC グループ）TNFD レポート（自然資本に関する考え）を公開

- 2023のレポートをTNFD ベータ版フレームワークを基に発行
- 同社は 2022 年、MS＆AD ホールディングスと共同で、国連環境計画 金融イニシアチブ（UNEP-FI）が主催するパイロットプログラムに参加し、融資業務が森林・生物多様性へ与える影響をすでに定量化し、LEAP アプローチに沿った評価・分析を試行的に実施
- 同社はは TCFD・ TNFD の枠組みも活用のうえ、自然関連のリスクと機会についての分析を高度化し、社内の対応強化と包括的な開示を進める方針
環境省が「エコ・ファースト企業」の新規認定企業12社を発表

- 同制度では環境の分野において「先進的、独自的でかつ業界をリードする事業活動」を行っている企業（業界における環境先進企業）であることを認定
- 具体的には企業は環境大臣に対し、地球温暖化対策、廃棄物・リサイクル対策など、自社の環境保全に関する取り組みを約束、「先進的、独自的でかつ業界をリードするような事業活動」を行う企業が認定を受ける

経済産業省が「責任あるサプライチェーン等における人権尊重のための実務参照資料」を公開

- 企業がまず行うこととなる「人権方針の策定」や人権デュー・ディリジェンス（DD）において、最初のステップである「人権への負の影響の特定・評価」について、検討すべきポイントや実施フローの例を示す
- 人権方針は策定・公表することで終わりではなく、企業全体に人権方針を定着させ、その活動の中で人権方針を具体的に実践していくことが求められる
味の素、バイオスタートアップとサステナブルなアミノ酸製法の共同開発を開始

- 独自のゲノム大規模構築技術を持つスタートアップ企業、株式会社Logomix（CEO：石倉 大樹 本社：東京都中央区、以下Logomix社）と共同研究開発契約を締結
- Logomix社が持つゲノム大規模構築技術と、味の素のアミノ酸発酵に関する技術や知見を融合させることにより、発酵工程におけるCO2排出量など環境負荷を低減した、サステナブルなアミノ酸製法の開発を推進する予定。アミノ酸生産バイオサイクルの革新によるグリーンアミノ酸の製造を目指している

Mizuho Financial Group Expands Sustainable Finance goals to 100 Trillion Yen

- Aiming for 50 trillion yen (Before revision 12 trillion yen) in environmental and climate change finance in sustainable finance.Both targets are for FY 2019-2030 cumulative.
- Sustainability Risk Management Office established under the Group CRO.
- Other than that, the company disclosed a 39-page report including “Net Zero Transition Plan,” strengthening of climate-related risk management posture, and confirmation of progress in dealing with transition risks of business partners.
Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group (SMBC Group) Released TNFD Report (Thoughts on Natural Capital)

- the 2023 report is based on TNFD Beta Framework.
- In 2022, the company, together with MS&AD Holdings, participated in a pilot program organized by the United Nations Environment Programme Financial Initiative (UNEP-FI). They have already quantified the impact of its lending operations on forests and biodiversity, and conducted a trial evaluation and analysis in line with the LEAP approach.
- The company intends to use the TCFD and TNFD frameworks to enhance its analysis of nature-related risks and opportunities. Also to Strengthen internal responsiveness and promote comprehensive disclosure.
Ministry of the Environment Announces 12 Newly Certified Eco-First Companies

- The program recognizes companies (Environmentally advanced companies in the industry) for their “advanced, unique, and industry-leading business activities” in the field of the environment.
- Specifically, companies are required to pledge to the Minister of the Environment their environmental conservation efforts, including global warming countermeasures, waste and recycling countermeasures, etc. Companies that engage in “advanced, unique, and industry-leading business activities” are eligible for certification.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry released “Practical Reference Materials for Respecting Human Rights in Responsible Supply Chains, etc.”

- Commentary on (1) positioning of practical reference materials, (2) formulation of human rights policy, and (3) identification and evaluation of negative impacts (risks of human rights violations).
- Provides examples of points to consider and implementation flow for “identification and evaluation of negative human rights impacts” which is the first step in the “formulation of human rights policy” and human rights due diligence (DD) that companies are required to undertake first.
- Human rights policies do not end with their formulation and publication, more importantly, human rights policies must be concretely put into practice in corporate activities.
Ajinomoto and a bio-startup have begun joint development of a sustainable amino acid manufacturing process.

- The Ajinomoto Group aims to build a sustainable food system, and has set a carbon neutral goal of achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by fiscal 2050.
- Signed a joint research and development agreement with Logomix Corporation (CEO: Hiroki Ishikura, Head office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter “Logomix”), a start-up company with proprietary large-scale genome construction technology.
- By combining Logomix’s technology for large-scale genome construction with Ajinomoto’s technology and knowledge of amino acid fermentation, the companies plan to promote the development of sustainable amino acid manufacturing methods that reduce CO2 emissions and other environmental impacts of the fermentation process, and aim to manufacture green amino acids through innovation in the amino acid production bio-cycle.
